Function
The alarm wire is embedded in the insulation parallel to the supply pipe. Usually, the alarm wire is of 1.2mm soft-drawn copper and is positioned 15-20 mm from the supply pipe at 3 and 9 o'clock or 2 and 10 o´clock. The type of wire and the positioning are the result of many years of experience and several practical tests This careful positioning of the alarm wire simplifies any fault finding and positioning. The alarm wires are usually connected by using pressing pliers ensuring an extremely reliable connection which is very important for the alarm system.
The externally laid alarm wire consists of a triple-wire alarm cable on which heat-sensitive detectors can be fitted which register any changes in pre-selected temperature limits and transmits a signal to the alarm unit. The detectors can be fitted freely, for example, at joints, bends, junctions or between the flow and return pipes.
